We’re sure many people have had some experience getting an inspirational message or quote from our parents, sometimes in person, other times in the form of a png. While they can be endearing to receive on a daily basis, do they really serve any purpose other than a short-term mood boost?

Seeing how this article extends more than just the first paragraph, you can tell that the answer is a resounding yes. In fact, many of these benefits are especially useful for runners. So let’s see what are the perks of reading a simple motivational quote.

  1. They lift bad moods

Even though it is in the name, that is their main purpose. Motivational quotes can help to improve the mood of a viewer, as well as motivate them to try harder, due to a higher chance of user’s acting upon the quote, even subconsciously. This can have a positive impact on runners like us, in terms of growth and improvement.

We all have bad days and bad runs, but reading a motivational quote when we feel low can actually move us to keep going. This act of pushing on despite difficult challenges can help to grow a sense of perseverance and endurance which can benefit runners in the long term.

While there are many benefits to these quotes, these are the main two reasons that can directly impact us. They help us to get into the right headspace to carry on with the rest of our activity or the rest of our day.

Motivational quotes usually consists of 3 parts. The first is the overall message that the quote is trying to tell. Majority of running related quotes focus around the topics of determination, perseverance and adopting a never-say-die attitude. Following this, most quotes are then phrased in a manner where they are clear but concise. We personally recommend a maximum of 10 words to keep your quote easily memorable. Lastly, choose an image to pair your quote with. This part is important as it helps o set the mood of your quote. Many people tend use dramatic scenery and silhouettes of people to add to the aesthetic of their quotes.
